Setting:

In the sewing room

Characters:

American Girl Doll

Plot:

This project is my little cousin’s Christmas present. Two paperbag skirts, one for an American Girl Doll, another for the doll owner. Because I am too lazy to make my own tutorial, I will refer to this site: oh, sweet joy
I did not follow this tutorial when making mine, so it probably looks a little bit different.

Knit Bangles

Setting:

Thanksgiving-time, prepping for Christmas

Characters:

Myself and the authors of the book:
Knits to give

Plot:

This bangle was instant gratification.  You can easily have knit and ready to wear in a day (which was why it appealed to me).  It also makes a perfect little gift!  I used the empty duct tape roll (cut in half) to use as the base of the bangle, then knit the cover, and sewed the seams together. A seed stitch was used for the first bangle and size 6 needles (if I did it again, I’d use a smaller needle). A stitch I don’t know the name to was used for the second bangle and size 1 needles.

Stringed Word Art

Setting: Camp & my trailer in the mountains

Characters: The always inspiring Katie McLean

ImagePlot: I found this board at a building site here at camp. Snagged it — knew I would put it to use. There has been a lot of string art popping up around the ‘net lately (see Roxie’s String Art post), and it sounded like lots of fun. What to make? Well I found my inspiration from Katie’s “journey on.” FB post the other day.

How to:

I (carefully) nailed sewing pins into the board, then just went crazy wrapping string every which way. viola! You can’t quite tell in the photo but it looks really cool in a 3-D image short of way. Also: the string looks white, but in reality its a really pretty mint/sea foam color (my favorite).

Keep crafting!

Painted switch plate

Setting:  Summer bedroom update

Characters:  Me and the bugs that kept taking a swim in the paint.

Plot:  After re-painting my bedroom, I used the left over paint to paint a fun design on the switch plate.  I first used the wall color (the pumpkin pie-ish color), and then added sea foam-y accents.  It took under an hour and adds a little somethin’ somethin’ to my room.
