Chalkboard Frames

DIY:

[I] Find some cheap picture frames at a thrift store, they don’t have to match, that’s what paint is for. I looked for frames that had interesting design, and that would fit together nicely on the wall.

[II] You’ll also need:

  • white spray paint (or any color you prefer)
  • chalkboard paint (I bought the spray paint – super easy)
  • OPTIONAL: thin, smooth particle board
  • ribbon
  • chalk (duh)
  • Drywall anchors
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • hammer

[III] Spray paint the frames white, I’d give it two or three layers.

[IV] Paint the glass from the frames with chalkboard paint. I coated them as much as the can would allow me to, I wanted them to hold up to my sister’s inspiration for a long time. OPTIONAL: If you want to, you can replace the glass with particle board that is cut to size- you won’t have to worry about the hazard of broken glass.

[V] After both the frame and glass is dry, “load” the chalkboard by covering the entire board with chalk. Wipe off with damp cloth.

[VI] tie ribbon to the frame’s hook – if it doesn’t have one you can put a small screw or nail into the frame.

[VII] Hang using anchors, this is where the screwdriver and hammer come in to action.

[VIII] Write or draw whatever your heart desires on your new wall art!
