Characters: Mary and Winston’s Christmas Tree

Setting: Pre-Christmas. Camp, my car, my apartment.

Plot: While I was last down at camp, Mary offered me some pine boughs they had cut off their Christmas tree – I said YES I’ll make something Christmas-y out of them. I took some back to Denver with me and intertwined them together with some raffia and hung it on our door. Even though Christmas has passed, its still there – it makes it feel like its winter even if there ISN’T ANY SNOW.

Party Lights

Setting: Home in the mitten.

Characters: My girlfriends. My dog.

Plot: So this is a continuation of the pendant light – but I used white string, fabric stiffener, air-filled water balloons, and clearance marked Christmas lights to make these little guys. I made a set for myself and a set for a gift exchange that me and some friends from home were doing. The trickiest part is that while they were drying on my floor, my dog kept thinking they were to play with. Surprisingly he managed to not pop the balloons though, way to go Sonny : )

Tea Soap

Setting: pre-Christmas

Characters: All the lovely people I wanted to give this soap to for Christmas.

Plot: Fact – melt and pour soap is really fun and easy to use.  It comes in tons of different varieties: for this project I used goats milk soap for its moisturizing qualities during the dry winter season. I added different loose leaf tea flavors to the soap for exfoliation, and a bit of other essential oils mostly for scent. Wrapped them in some cute wrapping paper and now I have lots of gifts for friends and family. See other tea soap ideas at this link here.

Knitted headbands

Setting:  White Lake- cranking out Christmas presents

Characters:  Me, and my mother modeling 🙂

Plot:  I had a few more people on my list who needed gifts.  Knitted headbands provide instant gratification because they’re so quick and easy to make!  This project is similar to Heather’s past post.  I used a basketweave stitch and then knitted a rectangle piece to wrap around the front of the blue one (which my mom is showing off).  For the orange headband, I used some scrap fabric to wrap around.
